Inflation
We're in for a hard year or two. Gas prices rising at the rate of knots, food prices rocketing, shortages of CO2, many industries struggling due to lack of qualified staff, taxes rising, GP appointments harder to get than full blown Aids. Oh, and climate change is causing havoc.

It's a fucking mess.

Did Boris mention that Brexit would mean that we're all going to find an extra 2 or 3 grand per year to simply sustain the way we presently live?

The Pandemic is responsible for a some of it, but utter incompetence by our Government is responsible for the rest.

What's frightening is that we don't have a party that I, or much of the nation, believe can make things better. I'm moderate left wing but don't have any confidence in Labour, either.

The members of WHO would make a better government than what's available at the moment.

I’ve put in weight since Brexit.

That’s not what I voted for.

Has it been decided what has caused the spike in gas price yet?

Re: Inflation
Yes Mike. A worldwide gas shortage has been caused by Brexit and the UK government.

Are you saying you've gained pounds while losing Euros?

All part of the great reset and agenda 21 / 30

Remember, in the future you will own nothing and be happy.

The shakedown begins.

Or it’s all a coincidence.

Re: Inflation
Are gas prices up due to Brexit?

I thought prices are up all over Europe.

Other countries more able to deal with it due to their reserves. Even Holland has 9 times the reserves we do!

Closed down the rough centre which used to hold 70% of our reserves due to upkeep costs.

Once again we rely purely on luck.

Incompetent government yes. Not sure if Brexit is to blame for that one though.

Johnson & Gove told us gas would be cheaper if we voted Brexit, yet another lie......

Re: Inflation
It's incompetent government, not Brexit.

The impending energy crunch has been known about for years and the Tories have ducked out of addressing it for electoral reasons.

Nuclear? Not near me
Fracking? Not near me
Coal? - too dirty

So we are left with day-time solar, unreliable and mostly useless wind, insufficient and diminished nuclear and gas. Now we are fucked.

If you want to vote against the Tories, there's your reason, right there. I wouldn't recommend voting for anyone too green instead, though.

This time last year, Oman couldn't GIVE gas (LNG) away whatever it tried. All of a sudden it's in short supply?

Write your answer on the back of a cave painting and send it to Greta.

Re: Inflation
The dominating, outstanding factor in this is definitely not locking everyone up in their houses for a year, destroying business and livelihoods by the bucket load.

And it definitely wasn't Remainers who were strongly in favour of doing that.

Re: Inflation
Brexit is incompetent government leaving the average citizen far more exposed to the negative effects of global inflation than they would be if the country was still an EU member.

No point in trying to muddle cause and effect up now Pointy - the relation is too basic and plain to see. You wide-boys are simply not getting away with it this time.

Re: Inflation
Wind is not useless.
It generated 24% of our electricity in 2020.
It is a key component in a mix of electricity generation and this is the bit that the government has mismanaged or rather not managed as it has been subcontracted to private generators and the privatised National Grid (lack of storage is a huge issue that has barely been adressed at all - the technology is available and has been around for decades in hydro form).
